Museum Elburg

When:
until 24 August

Artist Wouter Berns (1970) looks at things slightly differently than others. He translates his sharp powers of observation into his paintings.

The paintings of story painter Wouter Berns subtly transport the viewer to a sometimes unimaginable, but usually not impossible world. The painted truth lies somewhere in the middle. He gets his subjects from everywhere: from literature, mythology, world religions, music and film. His curiosity about people, how they relate to the world and to each other, is reflected everywhere in his work.

Wouter Berns increasingly sits behind his laptop between paintings and continues writing where his paintings leave off. Just like in his paintings, he creates his own world in his stories. However, for once his fantasy, thoughts and research are not captured in paint, but cast in words. As a viewer, freely associating and with a strong imagination. His debut novel 'A heaven for Theo' was published in 2020.
