The route leads through varied scenery including woodland, heathland and polder landscapes, where farmers have been working the land for centuries. Cycle past charming old farmhouses between Ermelo and Putten and savour the expansive views. Windmills have also played a key role in processing the harvested crops through the ages.
Along the way you will pass the ‘Pluktuin het Platteland’ farm where you can pick your own fruit and vegetables. Fill your basket with delicious, brightly coloured berries in all shapes and sizes, such as raspberries and blackberries, as well as apples or pears before resuming your route along the dike on the shores of the Veluwemeer lake. Every season has its own charm! Tip: To visit the Stoomgemaal Arkemheen steam-powered pumping station, simply carry on beyond intersection 52 towards intersection 51.
